SHORT BIOGRAPHY OF THE ARTIST

Brother Kwan is his online avatar and alter-ego. His story is an exploration of outer and inner space, based on the trajectory of NASA’s Cassini mission to Saturn. Brother Kwan’s art is simple - two shapes (circles and squares) and three colours (black, white and red). Under these rules, photography, collage, and digital image manipulation collide in works that form a manga-style story of his own existence. He combines images from the Cassini Satellite with simultaneous images from his social media accounts and visualisations of biometric data. So each of work is a collage both in terms of material - but also of moments in time. The inspiration behind the work? The poetry of William Blake, the stories of Jorge Luis Borges, Lee Krasner, Joseph Beuys, Yayoi Kusama and Bruce Lee.
