Sound Field

Sound Field is part of the Artists Malleus series. Nearly 100 hammers welded together from scrap metal pieces by Chinese Migrant workers form this installations. It has to be touched by workers to set the hammes in motion and enjoy the chime like sounds from the bouncing tools. The shere mass of the one of a kind hammers with their scars and signs of long term heavy use and the surprising peaceful sounds overwhelm beholders each time the piece is shown again. 

It is fascinating to witness beholder attidude where ever Sound Field is on display. Normally art work should not be touched but the way the installation is setup no one can withstand the curiousity of what will happen if one touches it.  Its an installation which needs the direct interaction with the visitors of the museum inorder to touch people.
