Ripples in the pond
Increspature nell'acqua
Ripples in the pond
I painted with oils and composed this painting quickly. Later I made some small changes so that the viewer's eye will be rhythmically pulled back into the center. The ripples above are on a forward moving figure plane to distort the perspective. I paint with a paddle, knife and my fingers working in the moment creating without too much planning. I hope that viewers may enjoy and feel wonder as I do when I look at water rippling! But I know now that the painting is completed, it has a life of it's own and each one who views it will create their own story or not.
SHORT BIOGRAPHY OF THE ARTIST
Growing up in the Canadian countryside and surrounded by a large family and supportive country community, I was encouraged to draw at the age of three. For two years I studied with the Master, Robert E. Wood and he taught me the foundation of oil painting and composition. I have been influenced by the Fauve, Kandinsky, O'Keefe and more! Later, I attended Emily Carr College of Art and Design and graduated after four years full time with an Interdisciplinary Major in 1988. I was very fortunate to have had 93 solo and over 130 group exhibitions. My works are held in the Museums, the Paul Getty III Foundation and private collections around the world.
